Good you didn't open them. Mimail (among others) worm attaches a .zip file,
that, when unpacked or executed, infects the computer.
Sorry I don't know the specific worm that fits your description. Both the
SARC (Symantec Antivirus Research Center) and Panda Software have
good virus encyclopedias which may help you find the exact virus.
