Hi Phillip,
You can disable the Messenger Service two ways. The easy way is to go to
Steve Gibson's GRC Web site, download and run the 22 KB "Shoot The
Messenger" utility for Windows NT/2000/XP. The Messenger Service was
introduced in Win NT and is NA in Windows 98 & ME .

Disable the service manually as follows:
Windows XP Home
Click Start \ Settings \ Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK.

Subject: [PCSOFT] preferences in xp home
I have recently loaded xp home on a new comp and can't find how to set mouse
actions to single click instead of double click as it is on my other
machine.
Checked mouse properties in control panel but nothing there.
Also have forgotten how I disabled windows messenger service. Please
refresh
my memory!
Thanx,
Phillip Williams
