Howdy,
Having seen a demo by the oft-mentioned Steve Gibson as to how easy it is
for a person to get into ones computer, I have not run without one since a
year ago last November. If you have any information that you have a sense of
privacy about you may want to think about one. At least visit www.grc.com
and have your shields tested. As an aside, I think I was the 28th person to
have my "shields tested" following his presentation at the user group
meeting. Now up to well over seven million. Plenty of reading as to how easy
and potentially damaging an unprotected computer is.
Your question put the right person might give you the creeps!!

Heres the question:
I have printer and file sharing disabled. I am a stand alone PC. There
are no other network protocols binding tcpip. I don't run server or ftp
software. I ask why do I need a firewall.
I've asked network professionals, "Heres my IP address, What can you do
to me?
I am still asking.
