I am not sure who told you that in order to increase the color depth
of your Windows installation you need to format your hard drive...
but, this is not exactly true... actually, someone is pulling your
leg. Formatting your hard drive will do nothing to increase the
color depth in Windows... and you will spend a great deal of time
doing this and not accomplishing anything.

All you need to do is right click your mouse on the Windows
desktop, click then on Properties. Now, click on the settings
tab. You can adjust the color depth in the lower left hand option
window.

If you cannot adjust this, then you will first need to be sure you
have the latest driver installed for the video card. The second
option is to upgrade your PC with a better video card, preferably
one with at least 8mgs of ram. But, for a further discussion of
replacing a video card or other hardware, you need to take those
questions to PCBUILD, as hardware is off topic on PCSOFT.
