Hi again, folks.

I've got more information to give you about my problem here:

OK, someone emailed me directly instructing me to try something by going through the display properties dialogue box.  Upon doing so, I discovered a checked off option at the bottom of the settings tab that says:  "extend my desktop onto this monitor".  It has been checked off and is greyed out, meaning that I can't take it off to see what would happen had it not been there.  

So, I wonder if the video driver (by ATI) itself is causing this problem.  has anyone else had this problem?  if so, have you been able to fix it?  please let me know.
