Hi all,
I'll add my experience to the discussion. I use Earthlink and I do not
know what other ISP email services provide. Since starting to use
Earthlink's email blocker about a year ago, I have not received ANY
unwanted emails. Their blocker works on the basis of only allowing
emails to download to my computer if the sender is on my approved
senders list (address list) which can include up to 2,000
persons/entities. I started out not allowing any emails (cleared my
address list on Earthlink's site) and, as each email after that was
blocked by Earthlink, I would unblock those I wanted and add the senders
to my approved list. Of course for the first few weeks I added many to
the list, but now it is only one or two a week. In addition I can
unblock messages on a single use basis by accepting the message without
adding the person/entity to the approved list. Those senders that I
particularly do not want to hear from I added to a reject (without
notification) list which, unfortunately, is limited to only 500
persons/entities which quickly filled up. I now simply report those type
of emails as spam. Earthlink learns from that and places emails on a
separate spam list from which I can accept those that really are not
spam. The learning process is ongoing and by now there are rarely emails
that end up on the spam list that are truly not spam.
You can check with your individual ISP email services provider to see
what they have to offer.
I hope my experience helps.
