The problem with services is deciphering what does what and can be
eliminated.
Google will often help, but this Guy (Black Viper) has established

I run XP sp3. When I bring up Windows Task Manager there are 62
processes listed. Are all of these processes running. Are they all
necessary. Can I delete some of them. Seems like I hear something
running in the background most of the time. Thanks
