I had this problem after an install of XP Pro. I also suspectd a virus, but what my problem was was bad memory. Try taking out memory sticks one at a time to see if stops doing that. It took me 3 days of pulling my hair to figure this one out. It could also be a bad power supply. The error messages you get with a bad power supply will curl your hair. BEORE YOU DO ANY OF THE ABOVE, TRY RUNNING SP2 AGAIN!
