It IS too long. Unfortunately, until you find the solution that works for
you, it is not totally unexpected. Let's look at some numbers. With 216GB in
14 hrs translates to 4.4 MB/sec which is at the very low end. For my own
backups, I try to hit 2GB/minute as a goal. This is a data rate of 34MB/sec.
Most often the rate drops to 12MB/sec, which is still almost 3 times faster
than what you had.

What software did you use for imaging? I found best results using three
methods for backup. To create an image for the system drive, I use Acronis
True Image Home, which I bought on sale for only $10 at NewEgg. For data
drives, I sometimes use DriveImage XML, a free program from
www.runtime.org/dixml.htm. For fastest backup of data, I use a free copying
program called FastCopy from http://ipmsg.org/tools/fastcopy.html.en. To use
FastCopy, I create a backup destination folder on an external USB drive and
then use FastCopy to copy all the files and folders from the data disk to
the backup folder. This may take a long time, but for future backups, I
select the Sync mode of FastCopy. This copies only the changed files and
takes a fraction of the time it would take to do a full backup. It typically
takes no more than 5 minutes to do a backup of 160GB.

Hope this is of some help.

Subject: System Image

I have a Win7 64 bit computer with a 2 TB HD. I have it split into two
partitions C which has all my programs, and D which has all my data.

I did a System Image of my C drive to another installed drive. It was 216
GB. It took about 14 hour to create. That seems very long. Is this
normal?

I've done it in the past and don't remember it taking this long.

By the way, I've had to restore from a system image and it worked like a
charm.
