This is easy to fix. From a DOS box in Windows 95, do the following..
c:
cd \
attrib -h -r msdos.sys
edit msdos.sys, look for the line "bootgui=0" change to "bootgui=1".
save the file and exit the editor.
attrib +r +h msdos.sys
