We discussed this a lot several months ago. The only thing we appeared
to be able to agree on was that there is no way to make this change
stick forever. There are various ways to make it stick for a while but
eventually all folders will return to whatever default was in effect
after you installed Windows. Mine used to be the opposite of yours. I
wanted my folders to appear in large icons but they would always return
to list after a time. One way that seemed to work temporarily for me
was to set the view the way I wanted it and then to close the window by
clicking on the "x" in the upper right corner while holding down the
Ctrl and Alt keys. I believe I got this from some tips column like the
ones in PC World magazine. This behavior is supposed to be because the
folder settings in Windows 95 are stored in a queue which eventually
fills up and is cleared, setting all folders back to the default. Since
upgrading to Windows 98SE, I have not had this problem.
