I forgot to mention that I had already tried to get into safe mode. Pressing F8 doesn't give me the screen with the options. This is a Toshiba Satellite A45 laptop. I do have a recovery disk but that puts the laptop back where it was at time of purchase. Would really prefer not to go that drastic.

Thank

Try opening in "safe mode" by pressing F8 during boot process. Then go to
restore. You might also want to uninstall the problem program while in safe
  mode.

  Hello,
I just installed a program on my laptop with WinXP home that required a
system reboot and it now won't go past the log on screen. Freezes at loading
personal settings. How do I access the restore points not being able to
  completely boot.

  TIA
  Rob Shane
