Try this:
In the Netsite box (where you would type in the URL) type in
"about:plugins" (without the quotes) and press enter. (I use NS 4.79 -
4.73 may be slightly different - if it does not work, try a space after
the colon). Your browser should now display all of the plug-ins that
Netscape currently knows. Thr rightmost column will identify if the
plug-in is enabled or not. If not, you must delete the plug-in and
reload it (not M$ Powerpoint). If it is enabled, then
Open Netscape and select Edit | Preferences. Another window will open
(Preferences). Expand Navigator and open Applications. On the right side
will be a description of applications Netscape is aware of. See if
NCompass is in the list. If it is, scroll down further and see if
Powerpoint is displayed (Mine is shown as Powerpnt file; I have three
entries appearing, one each for each extension POT, PPT, and PPS.) When
you click on a description, the "File Type Details" area displays info
as to what is handling that extension. Further on the right, you are
allowed to edit it, remove it or add an application. If you select edit,
you can browse your hard drive to select the application to run when
Netscape encounters that extension.

There is also an unofficial, moderated newslist for Netscape users. You
can join the news list at the UFAQ.ORG site or subscribe to
"secnews.netscape.com (select the secure port when subscribing) and look
for the newsgroup that pertains to your version of Netscape. The
moderators of this list are very helpful.
