Possibly REal Player has installed itself as the preferred (sound) device.
Call up Real player and see if there is a checkbox  'make REal Player my
preferred device' or similar. Also check your sys,tray, see if Real player
is there, if so right click on the icon and 'unload' or 'exit' from Real
Player.
