Try installing the Office 97 SR-1 update from Microsoft and see if that
fixes it.
It might be user generated. Not waiting for a process to be finished before
clicking on something else. If the later is the case, Chinese thumb screws
work rather well:-)

I recently installed Office 97 on our Comtroller's laptop. Since then he
has been complaining of the machine locking up. I have not seen the lockup
so I do not know how tight it is lock. My question is what should I look
for to fix the problem?
