Running Win95B.  686/166.

When I try to open any mpeg file, in any viewer (say Irfanview), the viewer
window locks up showing the hourglass.  CAD will shut the viewer window OK
after 2 tries.

I have set File Associations for Mpeg/mpg to open in IrfanView, also tried
Wang and MPlayer, with similar result.

It's the same whether I try to play the file using Open With, or whether I
first open the player and then try to open the movie file from there.

If I set Mpeg/mpg in Irfanview association options, the setting won't stick.

I've also tried setting the association through Explorer/File types.

AVI and MOV files are OK with these players.  So I assume there's no fault
with the viewer programs.

What is wrong?
