Mike writes his system locks when selecting the "A:" drive.
I had a similar problem. I corrected it by removing Stimon and reinstalling
it. The other option is to disable the it from starting. Run WINCONFIG,
select startup tab and uncheck stimon.

I have developed a problem on my PC whereby the floppy disk drive locks up
the machine when double clicking its icon in My Computer. The only way to
get out of this is to Ctrl Alt Delete. The results show stimon is not
responding. If I end this as a task everything returns to normal with the
floppy.
