I would suggest either Redhat 8.2 or Mandrake 9.1.

Your milage on either will depend on the specs of your computer. I have tried both on a PIII 500 and
found them viable. Another factor is what you want to do, what progs you use.

I believe both RH and MD more than adequate for email, web surfing, and word processing.
