Mike,

Defragging too often accomplishes nothing. Only when the files on your
computer become spread around and fragmented to the point that your system
seriously slows down do you need to defrag. A typical computer user should
defrag about every three months. If you are a heavy duty user then once a
month, and a person who continually moves his programs and files
continually all over the place, about every two weeks. You risk creating
errors every time you defrag (even though the odds are low that you will
develop an error). Any good defrag program will recommend when to defrag.

Good luck.
