I have a client when they send an Excel file using Outlook Express with DSL, the file is changed to a .dat file and 3 copies are sent. The extension is .XLS [2_3].dat, which won’t open. Renaming the file to .XLS lets you open it in Excel, but it’s all garbled. This same file can be sent using Aol, its OK. Different recipients were sent, same results. The file (we tried different files) was sent from Excel and also OE as an attachment, same results. I copied 4 Excel files from the clients computer on a pen drive, opened them in another computer, everything OK. All other email using OE and sending other files, except Excel, works. The computer is running XP, AVG, and Ad-Aware. I’ve tried different settings in OE but can’t seem to figure this one out.
Any suggestions?
