Hi all,
I was going to risk learning about converting from FAT16 to FAT32 by
downloading the conversion file CVT.EXE from the WEB at SHAREWARE.COM. It
is a ready-to-use 150,840-byte file. You activate it by typing CVT C:
/[32]. There is a space between C: and the slash (not backslash).
But there is a drawback. The first thing it does is trigger SCANDISK
and, if even one sector is marked with a B for some bad clusters, it ends
its operation instead of bypassing it! I had a couple of Bs so I could not
make the conversion to FAT32, and am stuck with FAT16 unless I can find the
money to buy Windows 98 or a new hard drive. But I wonder if the same thing
happens with Microsoft's Windows 98 converter and Partition Magic! Does
anyone know?
By the way, CVT.EXE is a bare application program with no help file or
other information. I still don't know if it affects existing data on the
disk.
