I recently copied an excel 97 file to a floppy and took it to work. I put it
on the computer at work and tried to open it with Excel and got a message that
it was not a valid Excel file. The computer at work has Excel version 8.0. Is
this an older version than Excel 97? I have no option to save in Excel 8.0
format so I saved it in Excel 5.0. This I could open on the work computer but
it said it was from a previous version.

Is Excel version 8.0 older or newer than Excel 97.

TIA
Gary South
