That shouldn't be a problem---mine's similar, in fact I may have less video
memory than that, and I've never had that prob with Irfan.

Closing all your background apps might help---the less running the better.

Or you might try setting virtual memory manually rather the "Let Windows
Manage..".  Set it to double your physical RAM. Set max and min to the same
figure---this saves XP constantly resizing the page file when carrying out
intense graphics work.  Not that making screencaps is at all intensive.

To do this, open Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance
Settings/Advanced/Virtual Memory/Change.
