Consider the possibility the firewall might be locking things up. I believe
some firewalls are set to lock down after a certain period of inactivity.
Perhaps it is getting confused?
At any rate, because the issue occurs in both IE and Mozilla, you obviously
have to consider other possibilities. After internet times out, momentarily
shut down the firewall and attempt to access a safe site. If access is
allowed, you have narrowed down the possibilities. And, don't forget to
immediately restart the firewall, regardless of the results.
