Maybe someone else knows something about footers, but just in case, are you
using frames, tables, or pictures? Word 97 was awfully buggy about inserted
objects if you don't have the service packs for Office loaded. My troubles
had nothing to do with footers or margins, and removing an object would
suddenly get the missing text to print. I don't know where you could get
the service packs now, if you needed them. The SP's fixed this sort of odd
bug for me on documents that had embedded objects.

I have checked that and it's OK .... one more thing ... the footers do not
even show in 'Print Preview'
