The Quick Launch toolbar can disappear if you
disable Active Desktop...which can happen if you
have enabled Tweakui's "Allow active desktop to be
turned On/Off". Also, if you don't have "Allow
Changes to active desktop" enabled in Tweakui,
you might not be able to get your Quick Launch
toolbar back.
