Michael,

They are both very good. I my opinion Avast is slightly superior. I
installed both of them sequentially and used them to scan all of my hard
drives (About 500 Gb of programs, images and data. Avast completed faster
and found more of my "test dummy" viruses than AVG. Avast is also totally
free for a fully functional version and is more automated than AVG. I would
choose either of them over Norton, McAfee or the dozen other leading programs.
