 From the suggestions given by:
Hugh Vandervoort: make a shortcut to C:\documents and settings\all
users\start menu\programs (use list view)....

John Dent: temporarily reset you screen resolution to a higher setting ....

Ian Porter: get rid of programs and applications ... delete the entries
from the menu .... switch to classic start menu and show small icons...

Heather Stratton: ... right click on a program listed in the programs
list and send it to the desktop .... create a folder and put the
shortcuts in it and delete them from the programs list....

Doug Simmons: ... if your list of programs has a small horizontal bar
across the bottom of the list with an upside down triangle, click on
this bar and scroll down the rest of the list....

Huynh Minh Huong: ... change start menu properties to classic start menu
and choose scroll programs which will allow the programs to list in a
single column by allowing vertical alphabetical scrolling.

Huynh's suggestion proved the best for me as it addressed the problem I
presented, was the simplest and most direct, and will take care of any
future programs added to the program list without any further changes to
my setup. I recommend his solution to others.

Since I think I read that 'thank you messages' are not allowed (clutters
the list), I won't say that.

Blessings,
Ken
