There is SPAM making the rounds on the internet offering a program called
"Shoot The Messenger". This should not be confused with the free program at
http://grc.com/stm/shootthemessenger.htm
Gibson Research has alot of information on the subject and many free
programs and services to protect and test your machine. The SPAM offers
their program fo $169 with lifetime upgrades (the nerve!) or one year of
protection for half price!

I saw a poster make the statement that ZoneAlarm is bundled with spyware. I
have the same package here in my collection, purchased in May 2002, version
2, and it had nothing except the oportunity to receive information on other
Broderbund products. I have since upgraded free to their newest versions to
the current one, 4. I have never received any email from Broderbund from
registering their proguct.

My recomendations for an AntiVirus product

This is the fix for xp, and as 2000 is a close relative.....go to services,
and scoll down until you see "messenger" ( it has nothing to do with
instant message ) and shut it off, unless you are on an office network.
What you are seening is a spam ad...much like you would get in e-mail.
