Stan, have you installed any fax software recently? Winfax Pro caused
this behaviour on my computer running XP. Removing Winfax fixed the
shutdown delay.

For some reason when I try to shut down Windows 2000 it takes a minute
or more just to get to the shut down sequence (it use to shut down
within 8 seconds before). When I click on shut down, a box comes up
saying that it is "Saving your Settings" but nothing happens for usually
a minute or more before it gets past that message to start shutting
down. I have tried etc.
