Hello Karen,

It is advisable that you close all applications before Defrag. The Defrag process will proceed unhindered and faster if its allowed to progress solo.

Are you sure you're not confusing between Screen Saver and Power-management functions of your monitor ? With ScreenSaver set to 'None', I don't feel it can activate on its own (sounds spooky). If you are referring to your screen going blank between Defrag and pressing any key or mouse-click restores the display, then its the PM settings of your PC. I don't face any interruptions or problems by this.
