David,

Open Netscape and click
EDIT - PREFERENCES - NAVIGATOR - APPLICATIONS
now scroll to the bottom of the list and find the two WINWORD FILE
entries. (One for DOC files and one for RTF files)

Now click EDIT and make sure that MIME TYPE is:
application/msword.  Then BROWSE for your Word application.
Click OK and your done.
