The OCR facility from my HP Scanjet 5300C is excellent however I
can only get it to OCR directly from a scanned document. Short of
printing it out and scanning I can't see a way to get the program to
OCR a graphics file containing text. (Quite a few error messages are
in the form of graphics so the text can't be copied and pasted.)

Best of all I would like to know if I can get the Scanjet 5300C to
directly OCR graphics files.

Failing that do any screen grab utilities have OCR built in for dealing
with text that can't be copied and pasted.

Final fall back, can anyone suggest a simple shareware OCR
program that I can use directly on graphic files and not have to go to
the bother of printing out and then using the scan/OCR facility of the
Scanjet 5300C.
