Claude,
"I want to back up all the important files of my operating system"
They are all important otherwise they would not be included.
"to be able to restore it to its actual state"
Do you mean original state? If so use your Win 2000 disk.
(Actual state would refer to its condition right before restoring, which
could have acquired problems you wouldn't want restored.)
"Any suggestion as to which files I have to back up?"
All would be best. Use a mirroring program to duplicate your
files and back up to an appropriate disk. (You can eliminate any folders
with stuff you don't use.)
