Well, that WAS an interesting exercise. I sent the four suspect emails to
myself, from my XP system, guarded by AVG, to my W98SE system, where the job
is done by Norton AV 2002.
And the result? Norton nailed each of the four emails as they arrived, and
each one is carrying KLEZ.
I must say I'm disappointed in this result, as I really wanted AVG to work.
It's a breeze to install and update, and I really like it's interface.
Norton is a pig in so many ways........but I can't fault it's police work
in this case.
But who knows? - maybe if I go back into my XP system and click on one of
the attachments, AVG will spring into life then.
But I'd much rather it intercepted the bugs on their way in.
If anyone wants to test their own AVG protection, I'm very happy to forward
you one or more of these infected mails.
