I believe there is a patch in the MS update website. You did not mention
what version of word you are using. That would be of great help.

Subject: MS Word Start-up
I have a five year old Dell Dimension 8400 that I bought new with the XP
operating system. A while back I had to replace the hard drive and
reinstall all the original software. Everything is back to normal with the
exception of MS Word. Most of the time (not all) when the Word program is
loading, it is temporally interrupted by a message stating that it has to
install some kind of special addition or feature. The program does continue
to load; however, it is a little time consuming and does become a little
annoying after a while. Is there something that I can do to encourage a
normal start-up?
