The Windows uninstaller program uses the information provided by the
manufacturer to uninstall a program. For most purposes this is fine. Third
party uninstallers, such as Norton's Clean Sweep, or the one that is
included with Ontrack's Fix it or System Suite, go beyond what the
manufacturer provides, and searches for old files and registry entries that
the manufacturer may not consider important, or may want to leave on your
system in the hopes that you will re-install, or for their own purposes.
