Linda,
Some of these disabled programs will show up on your START=> Programs=>
Disabled Startup Items folder. You can delete them and they will not show
up in msconfig anymore. The rest have to be edited in the registry. They
can be found at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
Highlight the value on the right that you do not want to show up anymore and
delete it. Once you have deleted it you will no longer be able to enable it
in msconfig. Always make sure that you make a backup of the registry and
understand how to recover before editing the registry.
