Do NOT try to delete the Norton stuff by deleting files and folders, or you
may end up having to reformat your disk, losing most of the stuff on it!!
You need to understand that (I think) Norton replaces some essential Windows
files with its own. If you delete them, you can be in for some grief! (I
speak from sad experience.)
Norton has an uninstall program that you can get from their web site. Even
then, you may have problems. I tried to delete some McAffee stuff, but
remnants stayed in the registry. In order to get rid of the stuff, you
needed to be able to mess with the permissions in the registry. Otherwise,
they would pop right back. So, you need to know what you are doing. (I
finally "upgraded" to Vista on a new disk. I can still use the old disk if
I want.)
There is a reason that so many people hate these programs, and trouble
getting rid of them is likely at the top.
