That recently happened to me, and although I fixed it I don't think I
did it correctly. What I did was to go into my autoexec.bat file. The
line which loads the driver for the CD Rom was REM's out (by windows95).
I un-rem'd it, rebooted, and it was back !!. The problem now is that
it's running under MS-DOS Compatibility mode, which affects performance
!!
I think the solution for that is to get an updated windows95 driver for
the drive, re-rem out the dos driver, then install new hardware using
the new driver.
