OE does this as a security measure since many bugs can be sent through
attachments in various ways, one of them being .mpg.

Open Outlook Express and click Tools> Options> Security, then uncheck the
box that says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus." Then click Apply, OK, and you should be all set.
Make sure McAfee is up to date and that it is set to scan your e mail kuring
downloading.
