Elliott,

Open "My Computer" , click on "View" in the menu and select "Folder
Options".  In the Folder Options window select the "View" tab.  Under "Files
and Folders" uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types", click
the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button.
