If you choose the option to restore the previous configuration then you
should be able to install the other version of IE...if you install the
patch twice the only thing that will happen is that the second time will
write over the first & install any missing or older files...

Hello Fran,

With reference to your post (enclosed herebelow), could you please help
me clarify the following :
1.. If I have installed one or more patches for my IE version, and I
go to Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel, and if I select "Restore
a previous configuration", will the patches get uninstalled ?

2.. Assuming that a patch was already installed, what if I were to
mistakenly run the program to install the same patch again. Would this
install the patch twice or would the second attempt be detected as
unnecessary and hence be aborted automatically by the install-program ?
Thanks in advance

Go to the Add/Remove programs in the control panel, look for Microsoft
Intenet Explorer and click on it, then click on Add/Remove. A window
should
pop up giving you 3 options -

1. Repair IE
2. Add a component
3. Restore a previous configuration

Select "Restore a previous Configuration". This should remove the
upgrade.
Now you should be able to install IE 5.5.
