Hi Nicole
This was a problem that appeared when people installed the second
service pack upgrade to NT4. If they had anti-virus software running,
they would crash NT4 when trying to access removable media.
If you and your friends are at the service pack 2 level, the easiest
solution would be to either not run any anti-virus software or to download
and apply the post SP2 kernel fix which is available for download at
<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/NT40/hotfixes-postSP2/krn
l-fix/>
(Note that this long link should be on one line.)
A better solution would be to download and apply service pack 3 which
is available for download at
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/NT40/ussp3/
If you cannot download this large file, it is available from Microsoft
on CDROM. An alternative server for NT4 fixes is
<ftp://198.105.232.37/fixes/>.

Bill
