Should all 5 be used together? If so, any interactions? And instead of or in addition to Pest Patrol?
Also, did I hear/read correctly that browsers are getting hijacked, or is it just start pages?

Hi Annie,
It sounds as though you have a computer full of spyware / malware that not
only found it's way onto your computer but Pest Patrol failed to detect it
also. I suggest you try the following free programs:
SpywareGuard
http://wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html
SpywareBlaster
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Startpage Guard
http://www.pjwalczak.com/spguard/
SpyBot Search & Destroy
http://tinyurl.com/btf8
Ad-aware SE Personal Edition 1.03
http://tinyurl.com/yu6cm
No one program is 100% effective, but the first three do a good job of
protecting you from getting the "bad guys" and the last two work together to
detect and eliminate any that do get past your defense.
You didn't mention having a third party firewall. I suggest you disable the
firewall in XP and use ZoneAlarm http://tinyurl.com/kzq. The free edition
will serve you well and prevent the bad guys from using the Internet to
"call home". XPs firewall doesn't do that.
Good luck...

Subject: [PCSOFT] Slow Internet
I have a Dell Computer with Windows XP on it. I've been having problems
with my internet. It runs very slow, or we can't get on it or if we do
get on then it kicks us off the internet or it just freezes. We have
Norton AntiVirus installed, although all of a sudden the AutoProtect is
not working; it's not enabled and when I try to enable it - it won't
work. I also have Pest Patrol which I run daily. My daughter has AOL
instant messaging programmed on the computer so I'm not sure if this is
the problem. Plus we get an awful lot of porn on the computer. Any
suggestions with the internet?
thanks
Annie Bradley
