I had the same thing happen.  If you have a Hewlett Packard you can obtain a
free "Unmountable Boot Volume Utility Disk" from HP that will resolve the
problem. I was told it happened because of a corrupt Windows file.   If your
computer is not an HP perhaps the manufacturer has a similar disk.  When
using the disk just follow the instructions and be patient, sometimes it
seemed like nothing was happening (blank screen) but the disk was just
working at correcting the prolem.
