I have Norton Antivirus.  I ran a full scan and came up with 4 infected
files.  They are infected with [log in to unmask]

I'm running Win98se.

Two of them were in Windows\System.  Taskmon.exe and shimgapi.dll.

The only file that couldn't be deleted was shimgapi.dll.  How can I get
rid of this file?  Since it would come up with a virus error message, I
told it to ignore the file.  When I look at the file it has today's date.
 I ran Norton again and it didn't find any viruses.  So is it still
infected and Norton is ignoring it?

Do I need taskmon.exe?  I don't see it on my computer now.
