The BIOS could very well be y2k compliant, but if the date in the CMOS setup was

So if you haven't already, make sure the date in the CMOS setup screen is
correct.
I had and it was the first thing I did when I got into the bios. Please note however when dealing with level 1 tech support they will rewalk you through every basic item that could possibly be the cause this embassing when they are able to point out you missed something and frustrating when you have done it right and are being walked through it again and again and again. By the time I called M$. I very politely explained that if I was going to have walk through all the basics one more time that my being the descendant of a long line of disgruntal postal workers could have unhealthy ramifcations(Sarcasm).
I will when I get my new chip tackle this project once more post more questions and let everyone know the results. I figure I am about as enlightened to computers as a bug hitting a headlight but that is why I joined the lists.
