Debbie,
I just un-installed IE5.5 (under Win SE, 1st ed) and it was anything but
simple. The un-install asks if you want to restore the previous version,
which in my case should have been 5.01, but lo and behold, once the
uninstall had completed, I was left with a previous version all right -
Version 4.0!
I had to go to the MS site and re-download 5.01 and re-install that. MS will
not even support 4.0!
On the bright side, everything that IE5.5. messed up was returned to normal.
As far as installing two versions in separate folders, I am not sure if that
is allowable, but I would be VERY surprised if that worked. I have no
specific knowledge however, so someone else will have to answer that part.
Good Luck,
Michael

Subject: [PCSOFT] IE 5.5
1. If I uninstall IE 5.5, will it revert to the previous version which was
5.1?
I've been having a lot of IE crashes , & other weird Win98SE problems since
the
install a couple weeks ago.
2. If I wanted to keep IE 5.5 (Encarta 2001 requires its use), can I install
I.E.5.1 in another folder & use both versions of the browser or will this be
to
confusing for Win98?
Not sure what to do......
Regards,
Debbie
