Hi Anne,

Burning your CDs at a slower speed is not the answer. The problem is that
the 2x and the 8x CD-ROM can't read CD-R/RW disks. They are, simply put...
too old, and it's not feasible to upgrade such an old machine as the cost
would outweigh the results by far.

An easy solution is to use a file-splitter program to break the game
programs into parts small enough to fit on a floppy disk. HJSplit is one
such file-splitting program. It's freeware and you can get it here:
http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32 .

Subject: [PCSOFT] Slow burning software

Hello,

I have been using Nero Burning Rom 5.5.9.13 bundled software for a while
with no problems until now.

My son has an old 386 computer with a 2x CD reader and The burned CD's won't
play. I have tried burning at the lowest resolution I can (4x) with no luck.

Can I make this program burn at 1x or 2x? I have 1x CD blanks by Canopower I
can use.

He wants to transfer some game files from another PC that are too large for
floppies. We have tried to replace the 2X speed CD reader with a 8X that is
compatible with Win3.11 (the OS on the 386) but something is not compatible,
and new sound cards etc are too difficult to find now for such an old
machine.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted

Anne Smith
